This Is Not a Government Office or Records Custodian. Fairfax Residents Directory is privately operated. We cannot obtain or certify a record, verify an address occupant, or change a government roll or database. Direct those requests to the office that maintains the record. For an emergency, call 911. If someone is stalking or harassing you, contact local police.
Finding the Right Fairfax Record
Start with the record type and the Fairfax custodian most likely to hold it:
- Property along an address: use the Fairfax street directory routes, including Department of Tax Administration iCare and Land Records research
- Older directory material and past households: use the Fairfax city directory collection routes
- Researching one named person: use the Fairfax resident lookup pathways
- Office names and portals: see the Fairfax resident records offices listing for the Circuit Court Land Records Division, eCaseSearch, iCare, and Virginia elections sources
- Existing records that are not online: request them from the custodian under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Va. Code §2.2-3700 et seq.
Fairfax County FOIA Office. Molly Shannon, 12000 Government Center Parkway Suite 551, Fairfax, VA 22035. Phone: 703-324-7052. Email: FOIA@fairfaxcounty.gov.
The countywide FOIA office routes requests but may not be the record custodian. Describe existing records with reasonable specificity and contact the department that holds them. Fairfax County normally responds within five working days; Virginia FOIA allows a seven-working-day extension in general situations, and reasonable search or duplication costs may apply.
