Information You Provide Directly
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. When you email us, we receive the information in your message and use it to respond.
Information Collected Automatically
Our host maintains routine server logs, such as an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time stamps. We review that information in aggregate to maintain the service and understand which resources visitors use. Cookies or similar tools may be used for basic analytics and, when applicable, advertising measurement.
How Limited Data Is Used
We use this information to operate the service, address technical issues, measure traffic, and improve the reference material. We do not sell lists of visitors or create profiles of individual users.
External Portals and Services
Links may lead to Fairfax County and Virginia records portals, archives, library collections, or third-party search tools. The receiving service's privacy policy controls any information submitted there, including information entered into sponsored results supplied by a third party.
Providers and Required Disclosure
Hosting and support providers process server logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatically collected information described above. We disclose information only when valid legal process requires disclosure.
Security and Retention
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are kept no longer than needed for the purposes described here. Because the site has no visitor accounts, it does not hold a visitor password or account profile that could be exposed here.
Visitors Under 18
This service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us so it can be deleted.
Your Virginia Privacy Options
The Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, Va. Code §§59.1-571 through 59.1-581, can provide access, correction, deletion, or appeal rights for personal data held by covered businesses, subject to its thresholds and exemptions. Since we retain very little, a request generally involves checking our contact mailbox and server logs, then removing what is found when appropriate. Send a request through the Contact page. Public records held by Virginia, Fairfax County, or city custodians are outside our control; their availability is governed separately by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Va. Code §2.2-3700 et seq., and requests about those records belong with the custodian.
Changes to This Policy
We will post any revision to this policy here. Continued use after a revision indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
